First Gameplay Trailer For 'Mad Max' Video Game Highlights Car Customization & Vehicular Combat [VIDEO]

The Car Customization Belongs To The Mad. The First Gameplay Trailer For 'Mad Max' Arrives, And Is Glorious

After revealing some stunning look screens, Avalanche has released the first gameplay footage - mixed in with a few cinematics - of their upcoming Mad Max video game, and good lord, how great does this look? What a lovely day indeed.

Overlord: Fellowship Of Evil, New 4 Player Co-op Title Announced

It is easy to dismiss the footage as basically 'The Uncharted Fury of the Fallout Knight'. It's an open world post-apocalyptic game; Fallout. Max, especially when he isn't wearing his famed leather jacket, looks an awful lot like a certain gun-wielding archaeologist adventurer in another upcoming next gen project, Nathan Drake from Uncharted 4. And finally, the combat system looks very much like the fighting style in the various Batman games of recent years.

The Fury is for the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road, which drops on May 15 and looks like it could be the year's most batcrazy car movie. Sorry, Furious Seven.

Batman Arkham Knight's PC Specs Will Gobble Up A Ton Of Hard Drive Space

However, none of these are a bad thing because a) all of those are great games, or at least great game series and b) this is being developed by Avalanche, the same guys who brought us the wonderful Just Cause 2.

Don't worry, though, they're still working on Just Cause 3.

The new gameplay trailer shows off the highly customizable world of Mad Max, with an emphasis on Max's 'Magnum Opus', your own personal wastelands vehicle. After the villainous Scrotus - the best name? possibly - and his team steal your car (perhaps it was a V8 Interceptor), it's up to you to build your own again and take your revenge, and some gas and oil, too.

The car is your home, your weapon and your first line of defense. Enemies can appear at random, wasteland raiders who attack without warning and escape just as quickly. You have to be prepared, and you have to be absolutely ruthless. As the video says, "the wasteland is no place for a conscience."

Bullets are hard to come by, but a great many items are at your disposal, including the robust CQC combat skills. All of which are upgradeable.

Like Fallout and Borderlands, you'll come across various 'civilized' settlements that can aid you in your journey across the desert. Establish communications and relationships, and they'll help you out in a pinch, we're sure.

Watch the whole video below and get excited. I needed a drink of water afterwards. Mad Max is out in the fall of this year.
