iPad Mini Small Tablet Takeover Joins iPhone 5, iPad Triple Release

Apple competitors' worst nightmare may become a reality as rumors are swirling about a triple threat release of the iPhone 5, iPad mini, and iPad next generation tablet.

Original talks involved launching the iPhone 5 side by side with the iPad Mini, but recent reports say indicate that Apple's current developments on the next-gen iPad may be ready by October.

According to Digitimes and Chinese website Apple Daily, Apple is looking to extinguish any issues that is seen on the current iPad model.  Major factors involve overheating and battery life as the current iPad's Retina display has been draining power due to the high number of backlights.  Supporting a 2048 x 1536 resolution, the current iPad  doubles the number of pixels when compared to the iPad 2.

When Apple released the current iPad, they scrapped plans to integrate Sharp's new IGZO, indium gallium zinc oxide, display which would have improved power consumption, heating, physical size and weight.  The technology was not ready at the time but Apple will be looking to integrate the new technology in its next-gen model.  The IGZO would slim down the current battery, which is 70% larger in order to support the high resolution display, and can slim down the body casing.

The duo iPad and iPad mini release could dominate the tablet's high and low end market.  Its success may also risk the two devices competing with one another in the long run rather than the likes of Samsung, Google, and Amazon.    It may also hint at Apple's different approach to strategy compared to past device releases.

Apple's luxury driven image makes the company's dive into the lower end market a new venture.  Perhaps the company is confident that delivering high quality for a lower premium can attract potential customers into the Apple ecosystem.

The market, though crowded, could still be scooped up if Apple decides to enter the game.  An absence of an iPad mini has allowed Amazon, Google, and Samsung supply customers with 7 inch smaller tablets at lower costs.  Competitors tapped into the market for more portable devices and now Apple is eyeing for a piece of the action.

Though Apple's lineup of products have been known to revolutionize and trailblaze, recent speculations contrast to the company's ideals.  The new iPhone 5 is rumored to be without NFC, Near Field Communication, technology on initial release.  Based on a report from Wall Street Journal,  the iPhone 5 will hold off on NFC until Apple sees that consumers are comfortable in accepting the new technology.

Competitors are "all fighting over their piece of the pie, and we aren't doing that," said Phil Schiller, Apple Senior VP of Worldwide Marketing.

Despite leaving out NFC, the Apple iPhone 5 is expected to come this fall packed equipped with a larger 4 inch screen Retina display and uniquely slim designed case with improved battery life.

Recent reports from Digitimes stated that the next-gen smartphone will be equipped with the Exynos 4 quad-core processor.  According to AppleInsider, the A5X processor was an updated GPU that upgraded to quad-core.  The upgrade allowed the new iPad to uphold its Retina display high resolution technology.

Other features include 4G LTE Connectivity, 8 megapixel rear camera, integrated iOS 6, enhanced Siri, smaller sized dock connector, and liquid metal casing.   Could we see Apple pull out a triple release?  Consumers may be thrilled, but not rivals.
