'Smite' Squirrel God Ratatoskr Revealed, Will Bring Nut-Slinging Action To HiRez' MOBA

Smite's array of playable heroes draws on ancient mythology, and that will now include a Norse squirrel fighter.

A HiRez employee has posted the first official look at a new god for the game, Ratatoskr, on his Twitter account (via Kotaku). The squirrely hero hails from Norse mythology, and will soon be a playable character in the game, as first mentioned in some Smite datamining findings.

The information those over at Smite DataMining dug up gives us a vague idea about Ratatoskr, providing details about some of his nut-based attacks (I know--I can't believe that's a sentence I wrote, either). He will have three kinds of nuts, the details of which are as follows: White will grant a 20 percent increase in movement speed, Blue makes Dart deal 30 percent extra damage per stack, and Yellow increases movement speed by 20 percent for two seconds after using Dash. There is some ability that will allow you to throw the acorn, but how this and other skills will work still remain a mystery.

The report on the datamining explains various other findings, as well--head over to see details about new skins and some voice packs. The video below demonstrates the audio recovered from the finals. At least HiRez provided us with the image of Ratatoskr, so we don't have to imagine what he'll look like. And honestly, as far as a squirrel god could go, he looks pretty cool.
