Samsung Gear 360 Camera Selling Starts Today: What To Expect On Its Virtual Reality Features, Price and Availability

Samsung Gear 360 camera will start selling today in Singapore and South Korea. The virtual reality camera will be sold for 399,000 Korean Won. However, no official US shipping dates were announced for the "Gear 360".

Gear 360 will give you a firsthand experience in creating a 360-degree virtual reality output, as cited by TechWorld. Sporting a brand new look, it appears to be no smaller than a golf ball as compared to the diving goggles-like Samsung VR headset. However, more than consumption, Samsung's Director of Software Engineering Andrew Dickerson reiterates that 2016 is the projected virtual reality year.

The Gear 360 have an impressive two fisheye lenses with 180 degrees capacity to fully place the subject in the shot experience. To create a virtual reality content, a video can come together from a 360-degree angle and utilize gesture tracking. Vice President and Research and Development Head, Injong Rhee, said that Samsung's vision is moving towards providing a "holodeck experience" for all its users.

Gear 360 was first exhibited in the Mobile World Congress last March. According to Yahoo, onlookers were impressed by the camera. Aside from its virtual reality capacity, Gear 360 allows 4K recording and 30 megapixels photos that can work best with your Samsung smartphones and Gear VR. Although, it is unclear how much they will be selling it for in the western regions especially in the United States, aside from the earlier confirmed 350 Euros retail price in Europe.

TechCrunch also added that the Gear 360 craze is warranted as 360-degree videos proliferate in platforms such as Facebook and Youtube. The unique camera also has a variety of playback features one can utilize to review their virtual reality content. As soon as the hype slows down, Samsung is expected to lower the price once it decides to finally sell in the United States to attract more customers to embrace the virtual reality media.
