Those looking for anything "Persona 5" are set for something at NicoNico on May 5, 08:30 AM ET, Atlus announced. While nothing specific has been said, prospects are sure to flock over the live stream in hopes of some big revelation. The latest installment in the series, "Persona 4," is an entry from 2008, so it's safe to say that franchise loyalists have been waiting for a sequel for quite some time now.
As noted by Polygon, the stream is said to reveal "all new information." This coincides with a countdown clock that currently ticks at the official "Persona 5" website. Could the game's exact release date be finally revealed?
For those who may not know, "Persona 5" is set to release in Japan in summer 2016, though other regions are expected to have it within the year. This should not come as a suprise, because Atlus CEO Naoto Hiraoka has since declared 2016 to be the year when the company's popular series all come together.
She said previously (via Techno Buffalo), "In 2015, we were able to develop existing IP like 'Persona 4: Dancing All Night' and 'Etrian Mystery Dungeon.' In 2016, starting with 'Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir,' we plan to release a large number of titles. In the summer, we'll launch the long-awaited 'Persona 5.' Of course, in addition to that we have several unannounced titles. I have no doubt this will be a year Atlus' popular series all gather together."
In the March 2016 issue of Persona Magazine, director Katsura Hashino shared more details about the upcoming title. There has been mention of Tokyo as the setting, dungeon level design, phantom thieves and notable characters, Gematsu reports.
As per Trusted Reviews, the game will feature five characters: (1) the protagonist (player), (2) Ryuji Sakamoto, (3) Ann Takamaki, (4) Yusuke Kitagawa and (5) Morgana, whose true identity is unknown. The protagonist will take on the role of a Shujin High School transferee whose refined attitude shifts to a stark contrast that is chaotic.
