2 TB Xbox One In The Works? Announcement Could Happen At E3 2016

2 TB Xbox One In The Works, Announcement Could Happen At E3 2016

There are rumors that a new 2 TB Xbox One is currently in development. The system is still unannounced but is expected to launch sometime in 2016.

Not a lot of details about the 2 TB Xbox One have been revealed, but Microsoft is expected to make an announcement at E3 2016. Microsoft previously stated that they do not comment on rumors or speculation, so either the company is not working on an improved version of the console, or is keeping the unit under wraps until the right time. Some fans believe that Microsoft will unveil a regular console with a bigger 2 TB hard drive, as well as an Xbox One Slim, at E3.

GameSpot stated that Microsoft currently has a 500GB and 1 TB Xbox One available. The company has not released anything higher than 1 TB before, although all Xbox models support external hard drives. One gaming console costs around $450 to $500, but a 2 TB Xbox One will expectedly cost more.

VideoGamer revealed that an image purported to be the unannounced Xbox One Slim recently appeared on the internet. Dubbed the Xbox One S, the unit is said to be 40% smaller than the regular version, have 4K Ultra HD video support, High Dynamic Range, colored white with black accents, and will be among the rumored 2 TB Xbox One systems to release within the year.

The device will also reportedly arrive with a streamlined controller and vertical stand. Based on the photo, the console includes one USB port in the front and an infrared sensor. An image of the upcoming system set vertically also appeared online.

According to Pocket-lint, previously, the only way to have a 2 TB Xbox One was to use an external hard drive. The Microsoft gaming console can recognize the extra storage space if it has USB 3.0 connection. As soon as the device is installed, these can be used in the same manner as the existing internal data.

Compared to the PlayStation 4, it was easier to expand the storage capacity of the Xbox One, since it does not require the removal and replacement of the original hard drive. Having 2 TB of space can allow players to store about 100 games. If a 2 TB version of the Xbox One should release, players can store over 100 games by still adding an external hard drive.

More updates and details on the 2 TB Xbox One are expected soon.
