'Gears of War 4' Latest News & Updates: How Does It Differ with Its Predecessors?

"Gears of War 4" is proving itself to be one of the most promising games exclusively for Xbox as the unexpected fourth installment refines the hardcore franchise about conflict between humanity and the Locust Horde.

Polygon featured a 90-minute interview with the game's co-creator Rod Fergusson and The Coalition where they explained how "Gears of War 4" came to be. According to Fergusson, they previously intended 2011's "Gears of War 3" to be the last installment of the franchise.

"I over-scoped that project as a producer because we didn't think we were ever going to put it into a next one. So we didn't cut very much," he told the outlet. However, that made them realize that what they initially intended to be a way of making the game bigger actually diluted it from the main core of the game.

Together, they conducted a sort of boot-camp for Gears where Fergusson introduced to the new members of The Coalition the true essence of "Gears of War." This eventually led to the new quest of Marcus Fenix's son, J.D. Fenix and his pals, Kait Diaz and Del Walker, as they try to win a war against new foes known as the Swarm.

According to Windows Central, the three protagonists' journey begins after Kait's mother, Reyna Diaz, was kidnapped. During their quest, Kait's uncle, Oscar joins them but was eventually swallowed whole by the so-called Snatcher and is encased in a fleshy red pod where they incubate.

Players are treated to the classic blood and gore the game is popular for especially after they open the pods and witness the victims emerge as Juvies, the terrifying reptile-like members of the Swarm. The heroes of the game was received quite well during the E3 2016 as IGN notes that their uneasiness in the battlefield made them more endearing than their predecessors.
