‘Suits’ Season 6 News & Update: Patrick J. Adams Shared Why The Wedding In Season 5 Finale Was Called Off

Fans were devastated how "Suits" ended in season 5: Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) decided not to marry Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle). In a recent interview with Adams, he revealed that the changes were made just one day before the episode was due for the shoot.

Last Minute Changes

Patrick J. Adams, the actor who portrays Mike in the popular series "Suits" shared with E! Online that Mike intended to serve prison time as a married man. That was the original script.

However, when they were reading the script, Adams said it sounded a bit cheesy and too much in one episode.

Imagine getting married and going to jail right after. That's the scenario in the finale episode of "Suits" if the original script was followed.

It seems that they "were packing it all in," as Patrick J. Adams puts it. While it may have felt a bit off, he admitted that everyone was ready to take on the wedding scene.

However, it seems that showrunner Aaron Korsh heard feedbacks from other members of the production team, which led him to make the drastic change at the last minute.

When Korsh hinted that the wedding scene may not happen, Adams supported the showrunner and expressed his feeling towards it.

"It just felt like it had more emotional weight and it felt like it made more sense for his character to say like, 'I can't do this to you,'" Adams said.

Well, admit or not, it turned out to be an interesting spin for season 5 finale of "Suits."

No Wedding On Season 6

According to Crossmap, there will still be no wedding when "Suits" returns for season 6, as hinted by Patrick Adams. While he did not outright say it, he hinted as much.

He said that Rachel's story doesn't revolve around Mike; on how she can take care of him or keep his secret.

Adams added that season 6 is actually a great season for Rachel. He said that he did a couple of scenes with Meghan but ultimately, her character may lead a life of her own, which is great for her character.

J.J. Abrams who serves as the show's producer seemed to think so as well.

Season 6 of "Suits" will return to the USA Network on July 13. Check out the promo video for the upcoming season below.
