Xbox One Latest News & Update: New Controller, New Games, New Consoles!

With the recently concluded E3, the gaming industry is alive and well, and there is definitely a lot to look forward to. More specifically, we should be excited for Microsoft's latest updates on their consoles as they have made a lot of new announcement in such a short span of time.

One of these announcements is that this last June 23, some of their games will be adapted to become backwards compatible, which in lay man's terms means that old games can be played on new consoles. Particularly, some Xbox 360 games can now be played using the Xbox one.

As cited by Games Presso, the games were announced on Twitter by Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb. Specifically these games are:

  • Blood Knights
  • Comic Jumper
  • Crystal Quest
  • Dungeons and Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara
  • Fallout: New Vegas
  • I Am Alive
  • Joe Danger Special Edition
  • Red Faction: Battlegrounds

It was also announced in E3 that Microsoft would be launching 2 new consoles, although not at the same time. These would be the Xbox One S, coming in around this year and Xbox One Project Scorpio, coming in late 2017 as mentioned by EuroGamer.

Xbox One S would be a slimmer version of the Xbox One with a redesigned look and an internal power supply. It will also include 4K resolution for Blu-rays and streaming, as well as HDR (high dynamic range) support for games and media alike, and also top-end 2TB storage option as Stuff mentions.

Overall, the Xbox one S is just a minor revision of the Xbox One meant to satisfy gamers until the Xbox One Project Scorpio is released. Project Scorpio on the other hand is mentioned to be a way more powerful console compared to Xbox One S as it contains six a terafop figure that is supposed to make it four times more powerful than the current Xbox One.

Another announcement was that Microsoft would make several improvements to its controller as cited by PC Gamer. In line with the new Xbox One S due on August, they are releasing a new controller together with the Xbox One S that can be connected via Bluetooth along with Wi-Fi Direct to your PC or Xbox One.

Microsoft mentions that some of their games may not be as easy or comfortable to play using mouse or keyboard so they made this new controller so it they may enhance their gaming experience, all without the hassle and mess of a cord.

Not only that, in addition to improved wireless connectivity, it has textured grips and a new design for its thumbstick that was made to improve accuracy for players and to drastically reduce the amount of wear and tear. As soon as the Xbox One S comes out, you can buy the controller alone for around $60.
