'Criminal Minds' Season 12 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: Rough Times Ahead For ‘Spencer Reid’? New Plot Details Revealed

“Criminal Minds” will undergo key changes when season 12 comes around. There will be new faces in the mix and also departing ones. One of the key characters departing is “Derek Morgan” (Shemar Moore) and his exit will leave the BAU group in a period of adjustment.

BAU team start 'Criminal Minds' Season 12 with major adjustments

Moore has had a big impact in the show but at least one person may need time to get over Morgan’s departure for “Criminal Minds” season 12. That person in mention is “Spencer Reid” (Matthew Gray Gruber) who will need to survive without his best friend.

Erica Messer touched on the matter via TV Guide stressing how a person cannot easily get over the loss of a best friend at work. The scenario will obviously change and this is something that season 12 of “Criminal Minds” will incorporate.

Seeing how Morgan was part of the show for 11 years, the adjustment on and off screen is expected to be tough. Though seeing cast members exit is nothing new, the producers seem to be hinting at something near the emotional aspect.

Will this spell trouble for Adam Rodriguez in 'Criminal Minds' Season 12?

Last month we reported on Moore’s replacement, former CSI Miami star Adam Rodriguez. He is a wise choice and considering he is a veteran in crime-related TV series, the plots on “Criminal Minds” are obviously different.

Though there is no word yet on what role Rodriguez will have, he is expected to cross paths with Reid. The question now is how will the two get along (in the series)? Would Reid recall how he and Morgan worked together?

Adjustments will surely be in the air and anxious moments are likely to be up. While the bond with Reid is a given, another cast member could be in for tough times in Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) as singled out by the Vine Report.

Overall, the whole BAU team will be in for a rough start but all of that should come along as the series progresses. “Criminal Minds” returns on September 28 via CBS for its 12th season.
