'Mafia III' Release Date & Updates: New Trailer 'The Soldier' Highlights Lincoln Clay's Very Troubled Past; Soundtrack To Have Over 100 Songs [VIDEO]

2K released a new Mafia III trailer to focus more on the main character, Lincoln Clay. The trailer, titled "Mafia III: Meet Lincoln Clay" is the first of many videos that will highlight an important character in the upcoming crime game.

The new Mafia III trailer lasted under one minute, revealing some information about the character's background and his new mission.

GameSpot noted that the Mafia III video stated that Clay was an orphan who grew up in the streets of New Bordeaux, the Mafia III version reimagining of New Orleans in 1968. He turned into an outlaw after joining the black mob and was subsequently assigned to Vietnam to join the war.

When he returned, he found that his family was betrayed by gangster Sal Marcano. He vowed to seek revenge and formed a new family with the characters Vito, Burke and Cassandra. He is set to wage a war against the mob or at least die trying.

Cinema Blend revealed that at the end of the Mafia III trailer, the game theme was shown, stating that family is not who you are born with, but who you die for. The message will most likely set up the upcoming events in Mafia III.

The title of the video hinted that there will be more videos coming up, which will introduce other members of the cast. Not a lot of details were provided about the three other characters shown in Clay's trailer, but the following clips are expected to show more about their background and how they met Clay to battle the mob.

It will be interesting to see how the story unfolds when "Mafia III" officially launches.

"Mafia III" has a number of unique elements that set it apart from other titles in the franchise. Aside from the fictional setting that resembles the southern region, the character perspective also deviates from being a part of the mob, to one who tries to go against them.

2K announced that Mafia III will feature over 100 songs on its soundtrack. There will be a Mafia III Collector's Edition that will arrive with the soundtrack on vinyl, dog tags for Lincoln Clay, an art book with 56 pages, Playboy lithographs and faux leather drink coasters. The package will cost $150.

"Mafia III" is set to release on Oct. 7, 2016 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. More updates and details are expected soon.
