‘Pokemon GO’ Latest News & Update: Suburban Dwellers Face Tougher Task Of Collecting All Critters

“Pokemon GO” continues to take the world by storm with people frantically searching for Pokemon characters at select stops mostly in urban areas.

The whole idea is to go out and hunt the Pokemon critters by moving with best chances of collecting them in public places with distinctive landmarks. It technically entices everyone to get up and go if they are to collect all the Pokemons and level up. The task of doing that should be easy and in fact get some blood flowing for the folks who are normally idle. So the next question now is how far should they go?

Sadly, “Pokemon GO” players situated in rural areas would need to travel farther into the city limits to gain better chances at collecting eggs and the Pokemons. The PokeStops and gym locations are usually in the dense urban corridors, a tactic that has dampened the spirits of Pokemon hunters.

Blame it on Ingress

How exactly did Niantic derive the locations where the PokeStops and gym locations would be? A previous augmented reality project known as “Ingress” may be the culprit. The project launched back in 2013 with portals being gradually added since.

Given that scenario, it explains why most of the eggs, characters and game play are situated in the public places with historical markers. Gyms and stops around residential suburban communities are lesser and stretched across landscapes where some are less friendly for walking.

Hence, the less popular an area is would mean the lesser chances of getting the “Pokemon GO” goodies and achievements. For the ones who are addicted, you may want to start walking frequently and explore popular places that will unsurprisingly be populated.

Niantic has not touched on the possibility of adding more PokeStops for “Pokemon GO” players despite requests. Seeing the magnitude of the game and the number of people the company has, it could take a while.
