'Pokemon Go' Latest News & Update: Niantic Game Hits $200 Million In Revenue

A whooping $200 million revenue marks the first month of the phenomenal "Pokemon Go." It dethroned previous crown-holders like "Candy Crush Soda Saga" by King and "Clash Royale" by Supercell.

Both smartphone app have generated only $25 million to $125 million in the first month of launch, respectively, according to USA Today. The craze continues to rise with "unparalleled popularity" with claims from Apple that the much-publicized "Pokemon Go," on its first week from launch, has achieved unprecedented downloads. The game has not even been launched to all regions in the world!

The $200 million revenue was called "historic" by Sensor Tower, basing from its Store Intelligence data. Quartz said "Pokemon Go" yields $10 million a day.

On mid-July, iOS subscribers spent searching and catching the "Pokemon Go" personage 33 minutes more than the popular smartphone apps like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

It is noteworthy to say that the launch of "Pokemon Go" in Japan pulled to heights the sales revenue. Japan, after all, is the homeland of the infamous Pikachu.

"Pokemon Go" is only available in 15 countries in Asia, according to Tech Crunch report. Who knows how much sales this augmented reality game could generate when it will launch in China, India and Korea! However, "Pokemon" has received a religious verdict in Saudi Arabia, and is banned in Iraq for safety considerations.

Even as many "Pokemon Go" players criticized Niantic for bugs and its slow response in addressing cheats, there is no stopping the viral game. Recently, an update was available for the augmented reality hit.

The "Nearby" and "Sightings" feature was revamped, though it is only at the disposal of "Pokemon Go" players in San Francisco for now. The battery saver option was also enhanced to give players more time to search and capture those elusive characters.
