NBA 2016 Latest News & Update: Blake Griffin Considering Going To Miami Next Year?

In a crazy NBA offseason that has seen powers shift so much (largely in the East), it looks like the Los Angeles Clippers experiment is finally coming to an end sooner rather than later, after relatively little success. Star center Blake Griffin, the man who has helped rehabilitate and propel the "lesser" Los Angeles team since he was drafted by them in 2009, may be headed to the Miami Heat if something doesn't change this season.

According to Inquisitr, the Heat may be making all its best efforts to pursue Blake Griffin in the 2017 offseason, by which time Griffin's contract with the Los Angeles Clippers is up. Of course, he'll still have the option to stay with the team (assuming he isn't traded or let go), but the Heat will most likely emerge as the top suitor. Griffin would come in to help run the team alongside veteran star Chris Bosh, after fellow star player Dwyane Wade left for the Chicago Bulls earlier in the offseason.

Stephen Curry will also become a free agent in 2017, but we don't find any reason for him to leave the Golden State Warriors, with whom he has already won the NBA Championship with last year. Blake Griffin is 27 years old, which is an age nearing the end of an NBA player's prime, especially in a position as physical as Griffin's at center and power forward.

The Boston Celtics were also rumored to be trying to pursue Blake Griffin in a trade with the Clippers, but nothing materialized out of that. If the Heat really wants Griffin in South Beach, they're going to have to make a really good case to tempt him--specifically, building an accompanying roster that Griffin would very much want to play alongside. He wouldn't want to be playing with slouches.
