‘Pokemon Go’ Latest News, Release Date & Update: Augmented Reality Game Aided Nintendo 3DS Sales

Everyone is familiar with the mileage that “Pokemon Go” has had so Nintendo’s claim that its 3DS sales are benefitting from its fame is not that surprising.

The thing is, “Pokemon Go” is still somehow associated with the Nintendo 3DS and this is mostly tied up to the “Pokemon” trademark. While Niantic Labs is the one that deserves credit, brand recall tied up to Nintendo cannot be denied.

To prove their point, Nintendo even points out the rise in 3DS sales in recent months. For July alone, North American sales showed an 80% sales increase (year-on-year), which technically makes it the best-selling game for the month.

“Pokemon Sun and Moon” joins the hype

With “Pokemon Go” causing quite a stir, it isn’t surprising why games with somehow related titles are thriving as well. One game is “Pokemon Sun and Moon” which is rendering a bit of nostalgia for folks who frequently played the game.

As mentioned in a previous post, “Pokemon Sun and Moon” has some indirect reference for the current clan of “Pokemon Go” players. That includes the potential evolution of Pokemon characters, one of the key parts of the augmented reality game to date.

Debatable or not?

Right now, many will be debating Nintendo’s claim though the facts presented are pretty much evident. “Pokemon Go” may or may not have something to do with the rise in popularity but the sales figures do carry some point of contention.

Be it as it may, the safe conclusion is that both Niantic and Nintendo have profited from the success of “Pokemon Go”. Hence, any brand that carries the “Pokemon” name has now created some sort of impact with criticism left for players who get the chance to play the game. There may be differences but the fact remains that the augmented reality game has captivated the gaming sector by leaps and bounds.
