Behind the Scenes of Injustice: Gods Among Us

It's been a while since we've heard anything about DC's fighter, Injustice: Gods Among Us. Quenching our thirst for knowledge, the folks over at NeatherRealm Studios decided to pop up a behind the scenes look at their next game.

One thing I found to be particularly interesting was the studio's decision to abandon the block button. Blocking will bow be accomplished by holding back, ala Street Fighter. Similarly, attacks are based on a light, medium, and heavy actions. Not too far removed from jab, strong, fierce attacks, no? Well, it is actually. Leaving out the block leaves a button free, which the team is now using as a "character trait button," the effects of which are different for each character.

But enough of my rambling, check it out below!

Did Catwoman just get sent into the Phantom Zone?

Recently revealed as playable characters to Injustice were Joker and Green Lantern, who join their DC brethren Batman, Nightwing, Green Arrow, Superman, Flash, Cyborg, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Solomon Grundy, and Catwoman.

According to the game's presentation at this year's EVO, there will be at least 24 playable characters and 15 arenas, so there's still a few characters yet to be revealed, and if NeatherRealm Studios head Ed Boon is to be believed, some of them you might not expect. "With Mortal Kombat, we brought in crazy guests like Freddy Krueger. So we'll definitely want to introduce unexpected characters [via DLC] to Injustice. That'll be our strategy. It's comparable to Mortal Kombat, but being really aggressive with our DLC characters."

Injustice: Gods Among Us will be released in April 2013 for Xbox 360, PS3, and Nintendo's Wii U. A collector's edition was recently announced, and a comic book is in the works.
