Sony Xperia C4 Release Date, News & Update: OS Boost From Google Android 6.0 Marshmallow; Sony Xperia X Compact With Quick Charge 3.0, Finger Sensor US Pre-Orders Start At $499

Sony Xperia C4 has just received Google's highly-anticipated Android 6.0 Marshmallow update which includes features such as Doze Mode, Google Now on Tap, among others. Sony has also launched the Xperia X Compact that comes with a disabled fingerprint sensor and Quick Charge 3.0 technology. The new Sony phone will also come with Android 6.0.1.

Sony Mobile has officially confirmed in a blog post that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update will be rolling out for Sony Xperia C4, Xperia C4 Dual, among others, Sony Mobile reported. The update will unlock a range of exciting new features and UI changes, Sony Mobile said. Sony had introduced the Xperia C4 in May 2015 which hit the stores a month later. It is hailed by Sony as a PROselfie smartphone with its 5MP secondary camera. Previously, the smartphone came pre-loaded with the Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Sony Xperia C4 features a 5.5-inch full HD IPS display with 1920x1080 resolution and 401ppi of pixel density. It also boasts an octa-core Cortex-A53 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage which can be expanded to 200GB with microSD card support.

Sony Xperia C4 and its main feature is the 5-megapixel front-facing snapper with LED flash support, 25mm wide-angle lens, 13-megapixel primary camera and Exmor R sensor support, that is able to take quality pictures in low-light conditions. The device is LTE-compatible and has 2600 mAh battery with up to 12 hours of talk time and is dual-SIM.

In other news, Sony will be launching the Sony Xperia X Compact months after it released the Sony Xperia C4. Pre-orders can now be placed in the US through  in Amazon.com for a pre-order price of $499.99. The unlocked version has three color options: Universe Black, White, and Mist Blue. Delivery is expected on Sept. 25, Phone Arena reported.

The smartphone will have a disabled fingerprint sensor that may require a different ROM. It has a 4.6-inch display with HD 720p resolution, 23-megapixel rear-facing camera with IMX300 sensor and f/2.0 lens.

It will be powered by a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor clocked at 1.8GHz, and includes 3GB of RAM, 32GB expandable memory or up to 256GB. It has a non-removable 2700 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology and Android 6.0.1.

The Sony Xperia C4 will require a minimum of 500MB free storage space and at least 50 percent battery charge to install the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. To manually update, go to Settings > About Device > Software Update > Check for Updates. The Android 7.0 Nougat is expected to roll out a few months later.
