Newest Borderlands 2 DLC, Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt, Out Today

Today's the day Borderlands 2 fans have been waiting for since Gearbox confirmed it late last month, the newest of four scheduled DLC episodes, Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt is out today.

"Danger! Excitement! Mustaches! It's time for another episode of Vault Hunter Adventures, featuring Sir Hammerlock! In this week's tale, our hard-boiled heroes travel to the savage continent of Aegrus! Their goal? To uncover the most exotic creatures Pandora has to offer, and give 'em the old one-two!" exclaims the official description.

Not unlike the DLCs of past, Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt similarly offers new weapons, gear, enemies, and a new explorable area called Aegrus, offering fetid swamps and mountaineous cliffs.

Aegrus' inhabitants look to be full blown worshippers of Pandora's self proclaimed dictator, Handsome Jack, whom new enemy Professor Nakayama is attempting to re-install as the planet's leader and all around douche. Given the title character's penchant for Pandora's critters, expect a number of new, ferocious animals to be hunted, as well as some appropriate gear to do it in. Among these new enemies include a chieftan that can heal enemies, boroks, scaylions, and a Voracidous, "a seraph guardian stalker that is controlled by one of the game's chiefs," likely the "Stalker the size of a small building" previously hinted at.

In addition to the new creatures comes a new vehicle, named the 'fan-boat,' which can be summoned from the Catch-A-Ride alternative, Catch-A-Boat. It will come equipped with 68 customized skins, as well as corrosive, incendiary and shock weapon mods.

According to Polygon, Big Game Hunt is a "four-to-six hour campaign" and "will start off with players facing off against level 30 and higher enemies.

Hunt's producer, James Lopez, says the vault hunters will fight side-by-side with Sir Hammerlock to regain control of a hunting lodge. The lodge will serve as the campaign's central hub from where Hammerlock will distribute missions once the lodge has been re-taken.

The DLC is part of the season pass, but those who don't have that option can grab it for 800 Microsoft Points, or $9.99. Check out the trailer below!
