Apple iOS Latest News & Update: Tech Giant Releases iOS 10.0.1 Just Shortly After iOS 10; Should You Update? Pangu Jailbreak Coming?

Apple iOS Latest News & Update: Tech Giant Releases iOS 10.0.1 Just Shortly After iOS 10; Should You Update? Pangu Jailbreak Coming?

After Apple launched iOS 10, users expected a jailbreak to follow soon, particularly by the Pangu team. However, it seems that the jailbreak tool for iOS 10 may not be available anytime soon after Apple launched the iOS 10.0.1 update.

The BitBag reported that Pangu previously demonstrated the jailbreak tool for iOS 10, but it will become useless since Apple already provided the iOS 10.0.1 update. Users who update to the latest version will no longer be able to jailbreak their devices. Apple has actually been providing updates more frequently to ward off jailbreakers. Users who are still on iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak are advised not to update.

The new iOS 10.0.1 fixes an issue that may prevent the recognition of "Hey Siri" requests. It also addressed issues that may affect the audio quality for calls made using VoLTE. iOS 10.0.1 further addressed issues that may affect Bluetooth connectivity and pairing with the Apple Watch. The update also enhanced the stability of Contacts apps and Camera.

Forbes noted that the time difference between the release of iOS 10 and iOS 10.0.1 may be the shortest yet by Apple. iOS 10.0.1 is made for the iPhone 5 or later models, iPad 2 or later, iPad Pro range, iPad mini 2 or later and iPod touch 6th generation or later. Users will automatically get upgrade notifications. Those who did not receive automatic prompts can try the manual approach by going to Settings then General then Software Update. The size of iOS 10.0.1 will differ depending on the device, ranging from 25MB to 60MB.

Apple reportedly addressed a security hole in the kernel, but has not yet confirmed whether it is the same crack that Pangu used to bypass iOS 10. If Apple discovered the crack that allowed Pangu to go through iOS 10, the latter may find it more difficult to jailbreak iOS 10. On the other hand, if Apple has not yet discovered the hole, the jailbreak may work with the new update. Pangu has yet to confirm whether a new jailbreak tool will work with iOS 10.0.1. More updates and details are expected soon.
