MacBook Air 2016 Release Date, News & Update: No More Air Series?

MacBook Air 2016 may not be coming this year after all. There have been rumors that Apple may have officially stopped producing the MacBook Air series. The Apple company is reportedly focused on the production of other devices such as the Pro series and the smartwatches.

Apple reportedly will not be launching the MacBook Air 2016 since the company was not able to properly update the series these past few years. Apple has launched many devices over the years, including the 13-inch Pro and the Retina MacBook, both having outperformed the Air series notebooks in its performance and features

Apple reportedly will no longer be releasing an updated version of the MacBook Air as they have been planning the release of a new version of MacBook Pro instead. Initial rumors were that its launch will be together with Apple Watch 2, the iPhone 7, the iPhone 8 and the other software upgrades for this year to increase their revenue.

The MacBook Air 2016 seems to be no match for the upcoming MacBook Pro, which will be slimmer and lighter with an overall design upgrade. It will have the four type-C USB ports with MagSafe power connector and add a headphone jack featuring a new Apple Pencil, reports Macworld.

The device will have a 5K Thunderbolt display and an enhanced AMD Polaris graphics processor. It will also be powered by the Skylake processor with 8GB RAM and 1TB of internal storage and include the upcoming MacOS Sierra, introducing personal assistant Siri to the desktop. University Herald even reported of some rumored release date such as in 2017, but that remains unsettled as well.

MacBook Air 2016 remains to be announced. Meanwhile, rumors have it that Apple will launch its MacBook Pro before 2016 ends. As of writing, Apple has made no confirmation yet regarding any of its upcoming releases.
