Gamers Raise Over $225,000 for Breast Cancer

The Evolution Champion Series recently held a donation drive in order to determine the eighth game for the upcoming competition. Essentially, whichever game's community raised the most amount of money would earn a spot in the competition. But the real crux of the story is that every dollar raised went to Breast Cancer research.

There was a fair amount of range in the games part of the drive effort, from past competitors like Guilty Gear, to indie hits like Skullgirls. Even unreleased titles like Injustice: Gods Among Us were also part of the lineup.

In the end, Super Smash Bros. Melee won the spot, raising just shy of $95,000. But with all the games combined, a total of $225,744 was raised overall. The full breakdown that each game raised can be seen below.

In this day and age, when video games and the people who play them are once again under attack by politicans and popular media alike, it's nice to see games and gamers doing their part, not only to help dispel naysayers, but just to do a good thing overall.

For any other gamers out there who would like to donate, below are just a few video game themed charities.
