Prey 2 Teaser Site Is Counting Down To March 1st

A teaser site for Prey 2 has been reactivated and seems to be counting down to March 1st.

I say "seems to," because the actual "countdown" on Aliennoire.com is actually a changing sequence of geometric shapes. A series of intrepid NeoGAF forum-goers poured through the site's code and found that the script is, in fact, a countdown and will end on March 1st.

Those GAF-users also found references to the name Prey 2, developer Human Head, and publisher Bethesda Softworks in the site's code. According to The Escapist, those references have since been replaced with the cryptic message; "Tommy needs your help." Tommy was the protagonist of the original Prey.

Prey 2 made a big splash when it was initially shown at E3 2011, but little to no information has reached the public since. Dropping almost everything having to do with the original Prey, a tepid shooter from dawn of the Xbox 360 era, the sequel put players into the shoes of US Sky Marshall who, after being abducted by aliens, falls into a career as a bounty hunter in a Blade Runner-esque alien city. Responding to rumors of the game's cancellation, Bethesda announced in April that the game was still in development, but had had been hampered by unsatisfactory progress from the developer.

Here's the question: As interesting as Prey 2 looked all those years ago, will Bethesda be able to rekindle interest in the project so long after all hype for the game had been exstinguished?
