'Crazy Ex Girlfriend' Season 2 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: Lea Salonga Confirmed Coming Back? Choosing Series Over ‘Frozen 2’ Movie?

After a successful first season which saw star Rachel Bloom win a Golden Globe Award and a Critics' Choice Award for her performance on the show, "Crazy Ex Girlfriend" Season 2 is probably the most highly anticipated comedy premieres of the fall season. Starring Bloom as Harvard-educated lawyer Rebecca Bunch, the musical comedy-drama show has been praised for its feminist take on relationships.

The show even became more legitimate when Broadway star Lea Salonga was announced to be appearing in the season finale of the first season of "Crazy Ex Girlfriend." The Tony Award winner played an aunt of Josh (Vincent Rodriguez III) named Myrna, according to GMA News. In fact, she sang the original song "One Indescribable Instant," fulfilling her promise that she will be performing when her appearance was announced on Entertainment Weekly. However, it looks like Lea Salonga will not be back on "Crazy Ex Girlfriend" Season 2.

It is said that the reason that Lea Salonga will not be able to return to "Crazy Ex Girlfriend" Season 2 is because she will be busy in playing Helen Bechdel on the Manila run of the musical "Fun Home." She is also a judge and coach on all the seasons of the "The Voice Philippines" so her busy schedule might not permit her to return.

"Crazy Ex Girlfriend" Season 2 will start airing on Friday, October 21, at 9 pm ET on the CW. GameNGuide will be covering more on "Crazy Ex Girlfriend" Season 2 and its upcoming episodes in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, GameNGuide previouslly reported that Lea Salonga could possible be replacing Idina Menzel, who is said to be very busy preparing for her wedding, in "Frozen 2" movie. Sources have claimed that the "Miss Saigon" actress could be starring along with Sarah Geronimo in the sequel film. However, Disney is yet to confirm these reports.
