Nintendo Announces Mario and Luigi: Dream Team, Coming to 3DS This Summer [SCREENSHOTS]

UPDATE: Nintendo has released screenshots of Mario and Luigi: Dream Team to give you a good look at Luigi's RPG dreamscape.

Nintendo has announced Mario and Luigi: Dream Team, a new entry in the Mario and Luigi RPG series, will come to the 3DS this summer.

During today's Nintendo Direct address, Nintendo explained that Dream Team will take place in Luigi's dreams, where he will play a starring role and have strange supernatural powers."Since it's only a dream, Luigi can be [a] powerful, brave hero in this game," said Nintendo president Satoru Iwata.  In a section shown during the address, an army of mini-Luigis come to the real Luigi's aid in battle. The game will also feature puzzle where players will have to touch a sleeping Luigi's face.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata declared 2013 to be "the year of Luigi," launching a slew of games putting Mario's brother in the limelight. In addition to Mario and Luigi: Dream Team, Nintendo announced a new Luigi-centric DLC, Super Luigi U, and talked in detail about Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. Iwata even put on a Luigi cap... This is serious business, folks.
