Petition Says More Than 150,000 Fans Want GTA V on PC

The petition demanding Rockstar release Grand Theft Auto V on PC isjust shy of reaching 160,000 signatures.

The petition hit it's initial goal of 100,000 signatures shortly after it was first posted by Mike Julliard of Yarmouth, Canada, who says "GTA is an amazing PC game and the idea of it not being on PC is a mistake!"

When Rockstar announced the game's (delayed) release date, the game was confirmed for Xbox 360 and PS3, but there was no mention of plans to bring the game to PC. When asked if Rockstar would bring the game to platforms other than Xbox 360 and PS3 down the line, Rockstar Vice President Dan Houser said: "we are a third-party publisher. We're not Nintendo, we're not Sony, we're not Microsoft. We love all of them in different ways. But we can do what we want wherever there's the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market."

Since the Grand Theft Auto III made it's mark, every game in the series released for home consoles has also been ported to PC, though generally about a year or so after the games' console debut. Given the pattern, a PC release for Grand Theft Auto V is possible, but for now there's a chance it may never happen.

Set in and around Los Santos, the Los Angeles of the Grand Theft Auto universe, GTA V will feature three playable characters, a first for the series, and a world bigger than Red Dead Redemption, GTA IV, and GTA: San Andreas combined.

Grand Theft Auto V hits stores Sept. 17, 2013.
