iMac 2016 Release Date, Latest News & Update: Best Buy Accidentally Spills 27-inch Model

This month seems to be entirely focused on the coming of the MacBook Pro 2016 though critics are expecting something more. The MacBook Air has been teased to come out as well but a recent mystery listing of the iMac over at Best Buy has caused quite a stir.

According to Apple insider, a listing for a 27-inch variant of the iMac armed with an Intel Kaby Lake processor popped up though there were notable discrepancies from the said listing. The ad popped up last Sunday but was eventually taken down.

The specs according to the Best Buy listing

Thankfully some eagle-eyed folks got shots of the mystery listing for the iMac though the features indicated are up for debate. That includes a 27-inch iMac sporting an Intel Core i7, a 27-inch display, 32 GB of RAM, a 2 TB fusion drive, and an AMD Radeon R9 M380 GPU backed with 2 GB of RAM.

The iMac was priced at $3,200 over at Best Buy which was pretty conspicuous. An existing model carrying a 4.0 GHz sixth gen i7 processor with the same specs over at Apple.com, priced $50 less.

Of the list of features, it is the AMD Radeon R8 M380 that seems a bit off. This is largely because an AMD Radeon R9 M935 is already available on 5K iMacs, obviously higher and better.

Was it put up by accident?

Best Buy did take down that iMac listing but some are now wondering how it came to be. It sends off missed signals that a new iMac could be coming out alongside the MacBook Pro 2016 which is believed to be coming later this month at the earliest. Believing that Apple will show off more than the MacBook Pro 2016, it does make sense to pair the iMac alongside it though this remains to be seen, Techno Buffalo reported.
