‘Overwatch’ Latest News & Update: New Sombra Character Into ARG? Blizzard Halloween Event Details Leaked

Details on the new "Overwatch" character Sombra, and the upcoming Blizzard event on Halloween were recently leaked. "Overwatch" players finally got a closer look at the rumored heroine as well as Halloween-related content.

Digital Trends reported that in the past months, Blizzard has been teasing Sombra, a new "Overwatch" character, although not too many details were provided. The recent leak featured an image of Sombra in a purple suit and wielding a submachine gun. The image also featured a text, stating that Sombra will be hacking her way into the build later that evening. It is still uncertain whether Sombra will be included in the current "Overwatch" ARG component, but some speculate that the leak was previously planned by Blizzard as a good way of introducing the hacker into the ARG.

Polygon wrote that Sombra is one of the best and most notorious hackers in the world. Her rumored bio revealed that Sombra worked with the Mexican Los Muertos gang, but garnered too much unwanted attention. She was compelled to stay in hiding and was later recruited by the Talon organization, which is the same group that Reaper and Widowmaker is involved in. Sombra may be relying on her gun and special gloves for offense in "Overwatch." She may also be a defensive builder in "Overwatch," due to her expertise in omnics.

The recent Sombra leak apparently revealed more details about new content for the "Overwatch" Halloween event. Gamers previously found loot boxes on the Xbox Store, which will most likely contain special skins, emotes and items, related to the season. Mercy may be donning a witch costume, Junkrat and Roadhog may appear as Dr. Frankenstein and his monster, respectively, and Reaper may be wearing a bunch of jack-o'-lanterns. There may also be a new "Overwatch" game mode, where players have to work together to defend a castle against waves of zombie Omnics and Dr. Junkenstein's evil allies.

Blizzard is expected to make an official announcement on Sombra, and the upcoming "Overwatch" Halloween event. In the meantime, game director Jeff Kaplan mentioned that the development team was actively preparing to introduce more heroes in "Overwatch."
