‘Civilization 6’ Release Date, Leaders, Gameplay: Glory Is In Combat According To Queen Gorgo Of The Greeks

With the "Civilization 6" release date just around the corner, Firaxis Games finally revealed an alternate leader for the Greece civ. Aside from Pericles, players will soon have the option to choose his female counterpart instead, Queen Gorgo of Sparta.

Queen Gorgo May Lead Greece In Sid Meier's 'Civilization 6'

Queen Gorgo of Sparta joins the ranks of "Civilization 6" leaders. In a game changing move, In the game's official site, Firaxis revealed that the Greece civ will have two leaders to choose from, each with her/her own unique ability.

Queen Gorgo is a strong-willed Spartan Queen known for her wise counsel and of being the epitome of Spartan values. A fearless leader, she is outspoken and revered in a time when women had little social status. It is then fitting that the Greek civ should also have such a fiery woman as their leader with the arrival of the "Civilization 6" release date.

'Civilization 6' Gameplay Encourages Greeks Civ To Be Warlike

The Greek culture and civilization is not exactly known as warlike because most would remember them for their arts and their contribution to literature and philosophy. However, before the ancient Greeks could engage in these peaceful pursuits, they had to be militarily strong in order to meet foreign threats, an aspect that is reflected in the "Civilization 6" gameplay.

Gamers who choose the Greek civ with the arrival of the "Civilization 6" release date later this month will finally see that waging in war does have its advantages. Gorgo's special ability encourages players to wage wars. Called Thermopylae, the Greek civ gains culture equal to 50 percent of the base strength of defeated units.

'Civilization 6' Gameplay - 'With Your Shield Or On It'

Among the "Civilization 6" leaders, Queen Gorgo is not a good neighbor if one is timid and weak. Apparently, the warlike queen is not one to shy away from combat and would never yield in a peace deal, preferring to seek glory in combat instead.

The queen's policy and agenda soon becomes apparent with the arrival of the "Civilization 6" release date less than two weeks from now. Gorgo is disdainful of other civs which are yet to engage in wars more so with civs that have been bullied by other civs into surrendered something in return for peace.

'Civilization 6" Gameplay - Acropolis, Hoplite, Plato's Republic

Like her male counterpart, Pericles, both Greece "Civilization 6" leaders Gorgo share the same unique unit the Hoplite. She also get the same Acropolis district as well as the Plato's Republic ability for extra policy slots.
