'Saints Row IV' Releases August 20

After developer Volition's transfer from the bankrupt THQ to the not-bankrupt Deep Silver, hearts were lightened and gamer anticipation found new confidence for the "Saints Row" franchise. What started as a minor GTA-clone has erupted over two sequels of over-the-top video gaming satire developed for the seemingly sole purpose of being as crude as humanly possible. Well, the dildos are making a return in "Saints Row IV."

Now it's not just one city or three to conquer, it's the whole of the United States, Destructoid writes. You need to become president, because that's what you do when you've conquered the gangster-celebrity life, apparently.

Also there are going to be aliens and superpowers, but at this point nothing in "Saint's Row" should surprise. Volition was reported to be working on an expansion before THQ shut down, now it seems they're turning that expansion into a full-fledged sequel.

Deep Silver publishes the "Dead Island" franchise also acquired the rights to THQ's "Metro" franchise.

"Saints Row IV" is coming August 20 to the US and August 23 everywhere else, though platforms have not yet been announced. The Xbox 360 and PS3 are a good bet. The Wii U is definitely not.
