NFL Latest News & Updates: Tony Romo Warming Up, No Return Date Announced For Dallas Cowboys Quarterback

Tony Romo has been joining team drills and previously spotted practicing passes though this is no indication that the 36-year-old quarterback will be returning to action soon. He has been out since August following a back injury and has yet to return to active duty.

The Dallas Cowboys will be facing the Philadelphia Eagles this coming Sunday with rookie Dak Prescott retaining his starting quarterback status. The weeks have seen a debate on who should be the starter for the team with owner Jerry Jones stating that the position will return to Tony Romo once he is given a clean bill of health, NFL.com reported.

With no word on when that could be, Prescott can stay focused. Romo was recently seen throwing passes during team practice. He also participated in individual throwing alongside Prescott and backup Mark Sanchez. In all, Tony Romo looked pretty good though coach Jason Garrett says that the veteran’s status will be day-to-day, Dallas News reported.

A Tony Romo return doesn’t seem to be needed at this point, seeing how the Dallas Cowboys have racked up a 5-1 card with Prescott at the helm. Initially overlooked with Romo out, the Dallas Cowboys finds itself in an unusual position following sputtering seasons due to the absence of a reliable quarterback.

The landscape has changed tremendously and likely something Jones and Garrett never expected. Just the same, Jones seems to be more concerned about experience than youth though it may make no more sense for Tony Romo to reclaim his starting job at least for this season.

Changing quarterbacks at some point in the future could make or break for the Dallas Cowboys. While Tony Romo’s experience is a given, his durability has been a question.

With the success that Prescott has been giving, the Dallas Cowboys best let the rookie finish what he started. If he ends up choking in the end, Tony Romo can come in and show the 23-year-old a thing or two about playing in the pros.
