Next Xbox Listed On Microsoft Engineer’s Resume; New Features Being Worked On

Microsoft appears not to have made up its mind on the release date of its next-generation gaming console, but its employees are already talking about it. A lead software engineer at Microsoft has added the next-generation Xbox to his resume on LinkedIn and stated that the next console will have 'cool new features.'

The resume of this Microsoft development engineer on the professional networking website was first spotted by Videogamer. The engineer, however, did not share more details about the project due to adherence to a nondisclosure agreement. "Reference to 'the next Xbox' has appeared on the LinkedIn profile of Eusebius Lai, the lead software development engineer on Microsoft's Xbox team, who states that he's 'working on cool new features' for the unannounced console, but that he's 'unable to share [details] due to NDA," the report says.

His additional responsibilities, as his resume suggests, include video processing for DRM'd content and designing, implementing and deployubg video processing pipeline for DRM'd videos for indexing into the Xbox video catalog. In addition, Lai also contributes to feed generation for Xbox Smartglass Layers and visual processing and scene detection.

His CV also says he has been employed with Microsoft since 2006. Lai has primarily been working on the company's social initiatives within MSN, but has been actively involved with designing the data models used for the Xbox Marketplace's ratings and reviews feature.

This is yet another leak, although not a major one, from Microsoft which seems to be hell-bent on keeping its next Xbox plans top secret until the console's official announcement. "We do not comment on rumors or speculation. We are always thinking about what is next for our platform, but we don't have anything further to share at this time," a Microsoft representative tells Vidoegamer.

Microsoft has yet to announce its next-generation gaming platform; however, various speculations and rumors have it that the internet giant will officially announce it plans for Xbox 720 at a media event on May 21.
