iOS 6.1.3 Jailbreak For A4, Pre-A4 Devices Revealed Via Sn0wbreeze 2.9.14

The evasi0n jailbreak team may have declared that they will not be working on an exploit to jailbreak the recent iOS 6.1.3 which Apple released with a fix to the previous evasi0n jailbreak, but that’s definitely not the end of the story.

While the evasi0n iOS 6.1.x untethered jailbreak was patched by Apple, Geohot’s amazing Limera1n exploit shows that it’s possible to jailbreak iOS 6 (and over) on devices running the A4 chip.

Interested users will need the following to perform the jailbreak:

A pre-A4 iOS device, the latest version of Sn0wbreeze [All the download links can be found below], a 30-pin USB cable to plug the device into a PC, iOS 6.1.3, and Windows 8 with .NET Framework 3.5 (must have) installed to run Sn0wbreeze.

The supported devices: iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4G.

For those who are running iOS 6.1.3 and have an A4 or older device, they can carry on with this tutorial using Sn0wbreeze for a tethered jailbreak.

Jailbreaking is not authorized by Apple and should something happen to your device while attempting this Gamenguide will not be held responsible. Proceed at your own risk.

Now that that's out of the way, here are the steps to jailbreak your device:

Step 1: Unzip the download the Sn0wbreeze folder and extract the file.

Step 2: Launch Sn0wbreeze by clicking on the blue arrow on the bottom right hand-side of the display.

Step 3: Click on Browser for an IPSW and select the previously download firmware file.

Step 4: When the firmware is verified, click on the next arrow and select Simple Mode in the next screen.

Here, Sn0wbreeze will enquire if user wants to activate the iPhone? Users can select “Yes” if planning to unlock the phone using tools such as Ultrasn0w. Select “No” if the user is on an official supported carrier, or have a factory unlocked iPhone.

Step 5: Sn0wbreeze will now start working on the custom iOS firmware file, and this might take a while. Once completed, the new custom firmware will appear on the desktop.

Step 6: Now Sn0wbreeze will ask the user to enter Pwned DFU mode, and there will be on-screen instructions on how to do so.

Step 7: While in Pwned DFU mode, launch iTunes and keep the device plugged to the PC.

Step 8: iTunes will now detect the device in recovery mode, and the user will need to hold down the left SHIFT key and click on Restore on the keyboard. Select the custom firmware file from the desktop.

Step 9: The device will restore and that will take some time.

Step 10: Once done, the device will boot with Cydia installed.

“As mentioned at the beginning of this post, only A4 and older devices are supported, which means if you have an iPhone 5 / 4S or the latest fifth-gen iPod touch and are running iOS 6.1.3, then you’re way out of luck,” Redmond Pie writes.
