‘Pokemon Go’ Latest News & Update: Why Did Richard Garriott Quit Playing? Ultima Creator Points Out Flaws For AR Game

It comes to no surprise to hear that even game developers are into the “Pokemon Go” craze, or at least they used to. This is the case with Ultima creator Richard Garriott who has stopped playing the augmented reality game.

Garriott knows his stuff and apparently he plays close watch on game mechanics. With regards to “Pokemon Go”, he explained that the game’s lack of compelling content and differentiated strategy were the main reasons why he chose to stop playing the free-to-play game, GameSpot reported.

With Garriott’s dish, his take on what “Pokemon Go” hardly comes as a surprise. Niantic has been criticized for holding back features that could make the game better, something which is seen as the reason for the drop of active players.

Right now, “Pokemon Go” has crept up back to the top but largely because of its first in-game Halloween event. New monsters and a better haul of goodies have revived the interest of players but the hype may quickly go down once the season of the spooks lapses on Nov. 1.

Niantic has been criticized for overlooking key features to “Pokemon Go”, particularly the game’s tracking feature. It leaves a lot to be desired and is one reason why some gamers have resorted to third-party app usage. One app that has been making rounds is FastPokeMap, a program that the developer claims is safe to use as mentioned in a previous post.

The new features are for “Pokemon Go” are expected to come out in the next version which could come later this year or March 2017 at the latest. Among the new things, players can expect include Pokemon Trading and Gym Battles. More pocket monsters and evolutions are expected as well though it remains to be seen if all these promising features can give gamers a reason to play the game for good once more.
