‘Logan’ Release Date, Spoilers, News & Update: Professor X Dies? X-23 to Break Out Adamantium Claws? Hints From Official Trailer Revealed

More and more clues to Hugh Jackman's last portrayal of Wolverine in "Logan" are slowly surfacing. The first official movie trailer is already out and some of the rumored storylines have already been confirmed.

It was rumored that "Logan" will be based on Mark Millar's post-apocalyptic themed comics, "Old Man Logan," which features a world set in the future, with all mutants gone and a clawed Wolverine now retired in isolation. The trailer showed that, indeed, Wolverine is no longer affiliated with the mutant superhero group and is living by himself. Although the story is set in the future, the world doesn't appear to be dominated by a group of super villains.

The official "Logan" trailer also revealed that the relationship between Logan and the child named Laura is an important part of the story. Laura Kinney (Dafne Keen) is X-23, a young mutant found to be just like Logan, who is determined to save her from the torturous experiment that he had also gone through for having mutant powers. In the trailer, Charles Xavier a.k.a. Professor X (Patrick Stewart) was heard saying that she's "very much" similar to Wolverine. In the comics, X-23 is a female clone of Wolverine and while it is assumed that she can heal much more quickly, it remains to be seen if she also has retractable adamantium claws.

Also spotted in the "Logan" trailer was "Narcos'" Boyd Holbrook, playing as Donald Pierce, the leader of the Reavers - a group of cyborgs who hate mutants. There was also one character who puts on a getup that covers most of his skin. It is believed to be the mutant Caliban (Stephen Merchant), an albino and a friend of Wolverine who helps him take care of Professor X. Caliban can detect mutants nearby but he can't handle too much sunlight.

For now, much of the details of "Logan" have been kept under wraps but the trailer did reveal a lot of things. For instance, Professor X is clearly weak and frail, but it remains to be seen if he'll die in the movie. Logan and Laura were seen burying someone in one of the scenes so could this be the renowned mutant professor? Fans will just have to wait for the premiere of "Logan" on Mar. 3, 2017.
