'Journey' Developer Drops Teasers About "thatnextgame", Tweets Teaser Photos

Journey developer thatgamecompany posted some teasers on Twitter yesterday in what it seems to be its next game to reveal in the near future.

The developer of Flow and Flower tipped off at its next game which is dubbed as "thatnextgame" in the form of three teasers, according to Polygon. The developer wrote on Twitter that the game to be revealed is said to be ‘a game about giving'.

The soon-to-be-revealed game is a follow up of thatgamecompany's critically acclaimed Journey in 2012. The first photo posted on Twitter shows ‘a candle lighting another candle'. The second photo seems to be a profile of four children sporting capes and shorts while holding hands together. The third photo looks as if a stone gate with a shaft of light piercing through a cloud.

Thatgamecompany didn't disclose much details of the game but implied that the title will be released some time in 2017. Thatgamecompany's co-founder Jenova Chen told Polygon in 2013 that ‘his studio wanted to continue making emotional, artistic games, but unlike Flower and Journey, wanted to release their next title on a variety of platforms.'

Upon developing Journey, the studio announced its bankruptcy and seeks outside finding which in 2014, has raised $7 million from a Chinese private equity firm to finance its "emotionally engaging experience centered around human connections for players of all ages and backgrounds."

Thatgamecompany, LLC is an American independent video game development company co-founded by University of Southern California students Jenova Chen and Kellee Santiago in 2006. Its very first game is a remake of Chen's award-winning Flash title Flow, with enhanced visuals and sound and added multiplayer modes and compatibility with the PlayStation 3's motion sensitive controller.

Thatgamecompany was a developer for Sony Computer Entertainment contracted to create three downloadable games for the PlayStation 3's PlayStation Network service.

The company focuses on creating video games that provoke emotional responses from players.
