‘The Sims 4’ Latest News & Update: Latest ‘City Living’ Patch Introduces Freezing Bug; Gaming Fix Includes Origin Offline Mode, Mods Removal

With the recent release of "The Sims 4 City Living" expansion pack, many gamers became engrossed with the game's new world and its new gameplay features. However, several players highlighted a game freezing bug that appeared after a patch update that introduced lot traits and other enhancements to Electronic Arts' life simulation game.

"The Sims 4" has a new city-themed world with its latest "City Living" expansion pack. Named San Myshuno, the said DLC added apartments, interesting gameplay features, new build and buy items to the game. However, a preparatory patch update has introduced a freezing bug to the gaming title.

Released on Oct. 27, Thursday, "The Sims 4" patch addressed several game issues, as well as added the lot traits that were previewed in earlier "City Living" teaser clips. Soon after its deployment, players noticed their games constantly freezing either during the game's loading screen or while playing the game itself.

Members of "The Sims" development team have yet to release a new patch to fix the game's freezing and lagging issues. However, gaming tips posted on the fansite SimsVIP identified several steps that may help reduce or stop the said bug.

Gamers are advised to check the Origin settings for "The Sims 4" on their computers. It appears that choosing to "Go offline" helped to alleviate the game's freezing problem.

"The Sims 4" players should also check whether their Origin settings have been reverted to a 32 Bit version. It appears that the patch changed the said setting from a 64 Bit version into a 32 Bit game.

Other gaming tips included removing mods that may be incompatible with the latest patch or the new "The Sims 4 City Living" expansion pack. Deleting the contents of the Tray folder is also advisable, however, gamers should create a back-up copy before its removal. The said file can be found in the Electronic Arts and "The Sims 4" folder located in computer's Documents directory.

In other news, the video game voice actors strike may potentially impact the release of new "The Sims 4" projects. Electronic Arts' life simulation game is included in SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild) list of gaming titles that were affected by the said conflict, according to Sims Community. At this time, it is still unclear how many DLC packs were potentially put on hold since some projects may require voice actors while others may need the said talents for its release.

"The Sims 4" new expansion pack "City Living" was released on Nov. 1 for PC and MAC. Watch the game's launch trailer below:
