Apple VR Headset Specs, Features & Price: Virtual Reality Device For iPhone Now In Progress, Is It Worth The Wait?

The VR trend has come to Apple as it has been awarded a patent to create its own VR headset for mobile. The tech-giant has no official announcement on when they plan to release Apple VR headset, however, but it is now looking forward to create the headgear.

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has awarded Apple a patent for their new device called, Head-Mounted Display Apparatus for Retaining a Portable Electronic Device with Display. In the simplest form, it's an Apple VR headset intended for smartphones that will directly compete with Samsung's Gear VR headset and Google's upcoming VR, the Daydream View.

In our recent report, Google has announced its official release of their Daydream View VR headset on November 10. It's obvious now that Apple is following the trend of providing smartphone users a VR experience with their Apple VR Headset. Samsung was the first to release a VR headset intended for smartphones, unlike Oculus Rift or HTC Vive that are dependent on computers.

According to Phone Arena, Apple VR headset patent consists of lenses, a touchpad, proximity sensor, home and back buttons, and a wheel for better image focus. Also, it connects to an iPhone, which will be controlled by a separate touchpad with buttons. Moreover, the patent is specifically designed for mobile phones that have smaller screens than other models that has a large display.

In addition, Apple VR headset with a patent number 9,482,869 has built-in earphones placed through the both arm sides of the headset. There is also a head strap to keep the device in place on user's head. Users are allowed to use some external device since it has a designated port and jacks on the VR headset. Controls will be easy for the users for it has buttons for display, volume and navigation adjustments.

Meanwhile, Samsung Gear VR headset has its own features that compliment their smartphones; same with the upcoming Google's Daydream View VR that provides extra features that can be used not just in gaming. Now, it is interesting to know if the Apple VR headset will be able to surpass other VR headset brands.
