Mass Effect 3 Writer Working On Next Mass Effect Title: More Controversial Endings Expected?

The next Mass Effect game is currently being worked on by Mass Effect 3 Writer Mac Walters, a new report says. The next Mass Effect game won’t feature commander Shephard and will not be called Mass Effect 4.

Walters revealed his involvement with the new game at a Q&A session after the conclusion of the Canadian video game awards where Bioware’s Mass Effect 3 won the award for best console game, best original music and best writing, O Canada reports.

“Right now I’m actually just working on Mass Effect 4 (I wouldn’t call it 4, I’d just call it the next Mass Effect). It’s coming out of Montreal,” he says. He hints that he is “also working on other undisclosed things,” and these might be other unannounced Bioware projects that could arrive in the near future.

Walters also talks about what inspires him to work on the Mass Effect series.

“..for me personally (keep in mind that there are eight other writers that worked on Mass Effect), I don’t necessarily take inspiration from scifi. The thing I love about Mass Effect is that you can tell any story. Whether it’s from Downton Abbey, you can find those sort of human stories scattered throughout it…” he says.

But considering that Walters was the same person who worked on Mass Effect 3 which was known for its controversial ending, fans may not take the news well. However, Walters said that he doesn’t think the majority of Mass Effect fans had any real issues with the game’s ending and “that it was just a very vocal minority.”

The next Mass Effect game is yet to receive any kind of solid details or an official confirmation.
