E3 2013: What To Expect At The Electronic Entertainment Expo [Xbox 720, PS4, Nintendo, And Rumored Games]

This year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, the showcase event of the computer and video games industry, is all set to open its Pandora's Box of wonders, giving the world a sneak peek into what's in store for the videogames industry for the year ahead.

While nothing is certain about what will be there, we have predictions on what you will see on stage and on the show floor at the event. The big show is scheduled to take place from June 11-13 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Here's what we know so far:

Microsoft To Talk About The Xbox 720:

While some speculate that Microsoft's next-generation Xbox will be on display at E3 2013, the software giant will definitely talk about its plans for the new console, if not show off the device at the show. "With E3 only a couple of months away, we look forward to sharing more shortly," Microsoft's CFO Peter Klein said during a company's earnings call on April 18. The company later announced that it will reveal details about the console at an event named #XboxReveal later this month, but said that it will "continue the conversation at E3" and showcase a full line-up of blockbuster games at the show.

Microsoft Pre-E3 Xbox Event On June 10:

Microsoft has released invites for its pre-E3 Xbox event on June 10, a day before the event gets underway. The event will act as a pre-launch platform for the next-gen Xbox console where Microsoft is expected to discuss its plans for the upcoming Xbox 720. While this event would be targeting all kinds of gamers where Microsoft may reveal more game-focused content, the May 21 event would be designed for hardcore Xbox fans where the software giant will most likely unveil the much-awaited Xbox console.

Sony PlayStation 4 E3 Briefing On June 10:

Sony has confirmed that it will hold a press conference on June 10 at the annual E3 gaming conference, the same as Microsoft. The company is expected to detail its plans for the PS4 at the event and according to several rumors, Sony may indeed unveil what the console actually looks like. PlayStation fans can expect a lot of PS4 content including screenshots and video capture of upcoming PlayStation exclusives like Beyond: Two Souls and The Last of Us.

Nintendo Opts For A Smaller Show At E3:

In what came as a shock to game enthusiasts, Nintendo announced that it will skip out on a larger presentation at this year's E3, but would focus on smaller, closed-door events at the show. Nintendo's CEO Satoru Iwata made the announcement at a financial briefing released recently in which he stated that the company's presence at the event will be restricted to just two smaller closed-door events: one for distributors and one for Western gaming media. "At E3 this year, we are not planning to launch new hardware, and our main activity at E3 will be to announce and have people experience our software. We will use E3 as an ideal opportunity to talk in detail mainly about the Wii U titles that we are going to launch this year, and we also plan to make it possible for visitors to try the games immediately," Iwata said in a statement.
