Nintendo Makes E3 Hands-On Event Official; Miyamoto and Fils-Aime Will Be There

E3 2013 is approaching fast and all the big names in the gaming industry are setting up to offer their best at the event, and Nintendo is no different.

As reported, Nintendo has confirmed that the company will be hosting a hands-on event at its E3 booth on Tuesday, June 11, to try out Nintendo’s E3 games for the first time, and that’s not all. Company COO Reggie Fils-Aime and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto will be also be present at the event and speak at a Wii U Software Showcase.

“This year, Nintendo is taking a different approach to E3,” Nintendo says in a recent press. “We’re giving you the chance to get closer to the games through a unique hands-on experience at our booth before the show opens.”

This is also big news for all Nintendo fans after president Satoru Iwata announced in April that the company will not be holding a traditional press conference at this year's E3. It was also stated that Nintendo will instead hold a couple of private events for distributors and journalists that will focus on its software lineup for the U.S. market.

Nintendo says that it will also use its direct-to-consumer communication channel – Nintendo Direct – for announcements.

“We will have a strong line-up of beloved franchise experiences available for immediate hands-on play," Nintendo of America senior director of corporate communications Charlie Scibetta tells Polygon. "We are continuing to consider exciting new ways to bring the news of our games and information directly to the players at home during the E3 timeframe, and will have more to say about that at a later date."

This year’s E3 is set to officially open up for fans and media on June 11.
