Pac-Man, one of the most beloved and longest lasting icons in the history of videogames, will return to life once again in Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures. The 3D platformer will launch this fall in North and Latin America on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. An exclusive side-scrolling version of the game is coming to Nintendo 3DS as well.

Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures is set in Pac-World, where Pac-Man is charged with the task of saving his world and disposing the of Netherworld ghosts lead by the wicked, and aptly named, Betrayus.

The game follows the storyline and characters from the anticipated Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures animated series created and produced by Avi Arad, director and founder of Marvel Studios.

"Not only will Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures feature a revamped PAC-MAN universe, but it will also hearken back to Pac-Man origins with classic elements such as Ghost encounters. The Ghost-chomping mechanics return from the original Pac-Man but with exciting powered up variations in Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures, creating an innovative yet familiar gameplay experience," Namco Bandai says in a press release.

The publisher has not given an exact date for North American launch and stated it currently has no plans to release the game in Japan.
