2016-17 NBA Latest News: The New Orleans Pelicans Wins Nail-biter Against the Boston Celtics Despite Isaiah Thomas' 37

The New Orleans Pelicans wins a nail-biter against the Boston Celtics 106-105. Tim Frazier hits clutch free throws to give the Pelicans their second win of the season.

The Pelicans lead by as many as 14 points in the second half. Boston was struggling offensively and couldn't find production outside of Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley and Marcus Smart. Luckily for Boston, Thomas scored 37 points and 25 of it came in the second half. Thomas took over the offense for Boston and erased the 14-point lead of the Pelicans.

Boston and New Orleans went back and forth in the final period, trading leads and getting tied multiple times. In the final minute, the Pelicans went up 105-103 care of free throws by Anthony Davis and Frazier. Thomas answered back with a driving lay up to tie the game at 105 with seven seconds left. The Pelicans inbound the ball and Frazier quickly dribbled across the half court. As he was nearing the 3-point line, he squared up for a shot, got Kelly Olynyk in the air and drew a foul with 2.5 seconds left. Frazier hit one of two free throws to seal the game.

Anthony Davis got his usual double-double and paced the Pelicans with his 25 points and 16 rebounds. He also got a big help from their bench who outscored Boston's bench 53-20. Langston Galloway had a big game with 21 points and Terrence Jones added 15. "We wanted to show that we can be one of those groups that come off the bench and make a difference," said Galloway.

"Everybody played well," said Davis. "We're going to need that spread offense from everybody."

Davis will get more help when Jrue Holiday comes back to join the team soon. Pelicans head coach Holiday could be back by next week or in a couple of days. Holiday will certainly make the Pelicans better and they are hoping they can get more wins once they are at full strength.
