'Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare' News & Updates: Game Getting Even More Microtransactions? Find Out Here!

"Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare," the latest game in the Infinity Ward side of the "Call of Duty" series, has taken a lot of flak. From its first announcement, players quickly judge it due to its futuristic setting, a huge departure from the historical and present settings the franchise has used. Now, they might have another thing to be annoyed about with the game.

A post on the "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" Reddit forum reveals that there was a listing yesterday on the PlayStation Store in North America for what were called CODPoints. It looks like an in-game currency scheme for "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare," although it was never known what players would be able to buy with CODPoints. Players will probably soon find that out, as well as how much CODPoints would be worth with real currency.

The PlayStation Store listing was pulled not quickly but after several hours of being up. "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" would not be the first time Activision and Infinity Ward would introduce CODPoints to the franchise. CODPoints first appeared in "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" and players could buy in-game things from new weapons to cosmetic upgrades.

As with any game with microtransactions, players are already frustrated with the apparent necessity for them in "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare." Microtransactions already represent an innate "pay to win" gaming culture, regardless of how much or how little you can get ahead with spending more real money.

According to Game Rant, however, Activision sees this as a need for "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" didn't really do so well. But there's a chance that they might not add CODPoints after all, if they notice that players aren't spending on the existing microtransactions in the game. "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" is available to play now on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
