'Justice League Dark' Release Date, News & Update: First Trailer for DC's Animated Supernatural Superhero Film is Here

DC Comics fans who can't wait for "Justice League" to arrive next year would be glad to know that another DC production is well underway. This time, it's an animated supernatural superhero film in the form of "Justice League Dark." The latest DC Universe Animated Original Movie brings together several supernatural superheroes as they battle a a threat against humanity.

IGN reports that "Justice League Dark" will arrive on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital in the early parts of 2017. DC's animated supernatural superhero film will find Batman seeking out the help of occult investigator John Constantine, who in turn rounds up the gang. "Justice League Dark" will compose of Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna, and Etrigan the Demon, who are tasked to help save humanity.

The highly anticipated "Justice League Dark" will feature the voices of Jeremy Davies ("Justified") as Ritchie, Enrico Colantoni ("Veronica Mars") as Felix Faust, Alfred Molina ("Spider-man 2") as Destiny, and Roger R. Cross ("Arrow") as Swamp Thing and John Stewart. As per Gamespot, the film is rated R, just like its predecessor, "Batman: The Killing Joke."

"Justice League Dark" has quite a production history, as both Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor were supposedly in the running to lend their voices to John Constantine. Critically acclaimed director Guillermo del Toro was also supposedly directing the film and even submitted a script to Warner Bros two years ago.

"Justice League Dark" is directed by "Batman: The Knight Returns"' very own Jay Oliva, with a story by J.M. DeMatteis and Ernie Altbacker, who's credited for "Green Lantern: The Animated Series." The new DC animated supernatural superhero film is also executively produced by Benjamin Melniker and Michael Uslan. Check outif you'll purchase the film on Blu-ray, DVD, or Digital once it's out this 2017.
