Tesla Model 3 Release Date, News & Update: New Cameras, Sensor for Better Autopilot? Cheapest EV from Tesla Motors? Prototype Images Unveiled!

The Tesla Model 3 is probably one of the most awaited EVs (Electric Vehicles) to arrive next year. Recent reports claim that Tesla Motors will begin the mass production of the vehicle in mid-2017 and aims for a 2018 launch.

Tesla Motors also acquired the Germany's Grohmann Engineering firm to aid in the development of its automated manufacturing systems and also to start the mass production of Tesla Model 3. The company plans to make 500,000 Electric Vehicles annually starting in 2018 right after the Tesla Model 3 becomes available that why it needs Grohmann Engineering.

According to a report from Elektrek, Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk stated at a shareholders meeting for the SolarCity merger vote that the Tesla Model 3 doesn't include free charging and free unlimited charging. Free long distance charging is included but not free local. Reports suggest that the company will have the same program to Model S that it would only have a certain kWh allowance per year.

The Tesla Model 3 will be having its big reveal sometime over the next 3-4 months as stated by BGR. The EV is also expected to be the cheapest car in the company's roster priced at $35,000 before incentives. Aside from its cheap price the Model 3 can also have a peak performance of 215 miles of range per charge while continuing to adhere to the highest safety standards kept by the company.

Some reports also claim that the Tesla Model 3 will have 12 new sensors that will be built with eight other cameras. The sensors are needed for fully autonomous self-driving capability. But consumers have to order the features first or else the hardware would not be readily installed. If users don't pay up to $8,000 to activate autonomous features, the latest hardware will just be there doing nothing.
