Google Nexus 7 Release Date, Specs, Features, News & Update: New Google Phone To Run on Andromeda? December 2016 Launch Finally Confirmed?

Google phones and tablets have always been among the highly anticipated gadgets in the market, especially since they are able to offer the purest kind of Android experience, without bloatware whatsoever. As such, tech lovers have been eagerly awaiting the release of the Google Nexus 7, only to have their hopes dashed repeatedly throughout the year.

However, reports are now speculating that the new Google Nexus 7 may still make the end of the year--with HTC again at the helm? Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming Google Nexus 7: specifications and features, new upgrades, price details, release dates and more.

Specs and features

The new Google Nexus 7 is expected to run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, Adreno 530 GPU, with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. It's expected to come in at 7 inches, with a display resolution of 1440 by 2560, which makes it a QHD smartphone, according to TechRadar.

But what's more exciting about the new Google Nexus 7 is that it's expected to run the latest Android Andromeda, a rumored mash-up of the Chrome OS and the Android platforms, according to PC Advisor. However, the last rumor remains unlikely as the Andromeda is expected for laptops instead.

Upgrades

Not much is expected from the new Google Nexus in the way of innovative features and upgrades like retina scanners and jackless headphones, as some of the smartphones today are touting. Its premium is more on the hardware and software, but suffice it to say that the new Google Nexus 7 will at least have a fingerprint scanner as well as an optional keyboard accessory, TechRadar reported.

Price details and release dates

Like its predecessors, the new Google Nexus 7 is expected to launch at a starting cost of $330, putting it somewhere in the midrange section. It's expected to launch sometime 2017. Stay tuned for more updates on the Google Nexus 7.
