Shadow of the Eternals kickstarter to be taken down temporarily

Precursor Game's spiritual successor to Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem in Shadow of the Eternals will have its Kickstarter page temporarily taken down Thursday.

CEO for Precursor Games Paul Caporicci didn't give much detail on why outside of hinting on possible outside funding in the letter.

"Along with this support has come a host of a new exciting opportunities that will make the game better than we envisioned," wrote Caporicci.

That doesn't mean the end of Shadow of the Eternals, the Kickstarter will be re-launching "in a few short weeks" along with more information on development. The game hopes to be released sometime in 2014 on Wii U and PC.

Those who supported the campaign on Kickstarter won't have money removed from the support's account and all money given to the developer's actual website will be refunded through PayPal.

Official forums for Shadow of The Eternals will remain open and those interested in the game can join the "Order of the Unseen" for more information on development or help create game content themselves.

As of press time, Precursor has only gained $127,116 of its $1,350,000 goal. Part of the reason for the low backing comes from Precursor's relationship with Silicon Knights founder Denis Dyack following a damaging article from Kotaku. The Kotaku article accused Dyack of  mismanaging funds during Silicon Knight's development of the Activision published X-Men: Destiny to fund an Eternal Darkness sequel.

"Despite our excitement [regarding Shadow of the Eternals], and us wanting to move forward with me focusing on the creative,[the Kotaku article] keeps rearing its ugly head, that Paul Caporicci, our CEO, has asked me to address," said Dyack in the video. " I've got to do something about this because it's affecting me, it's affecting my colleagues at Precursor Games and it's affecting the community that wants to see this game get made."

Caporicci has made it clear that Dyack will only serve a creative and not business role with Precursor Games.
