iPhone 6 Latest News & Update: Apple Offers Free Battery For iPhone 6S With Power Issues! Know More About The Repair Program

Problems with Apple’s iPhone 6 series are surfacing. Besides some iPhone 6 Plus suffering from the “touch disease,” some iPhone 6S models shut down unexpectedly.

CNET reported that these are iPhone 6S manufactured between September and October 2015. Following complaints from gadget owners, Apple launched on Sunday a support program which would result in free replacement batteries for owners of iPhone 6S whose handsets shut down spontaneously even if the battery is charged.

Plugged In Phones

Those iPhone 6S would only turn back on when plugged in. However, keeping phones plugged in is also dangerous due to the possibility of overheating which could risk fires and explosions similar to what happened to Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 which were recalled eventually by the South Korean phone giant.

Although Apple said on Monday in a statement that a very small number of iPhone 6S shut down simultaneously, the China Consumers Association, a consumer watch group in the Asian giant, started an investigation into the problem which Apple insisted is not a safety issue, Fox News reported.

Offer Of Battery Replacement Is Global

The offer of battery replacements for defective iPhone 6S by Apple is worldwide. Owners of iPhone 6S that simultaneously shut down even when fully charged should contact Apple online or visit an Apple store to find if they are qualified for the free battery replacement offer.

At least, the battery replacement is free, unlike Apple’s previous offer of repairing the “touch disease” afflicting iPhone 6 Plus units, predecessor of the iPhone 6s, but for a hefty price of $149. Before Apple offered the repair program on Sunday, the Cupertino-based phone giant flagged the issue as due to damaged logic board which could not be fixed, and iPhone 6 Plus owners did not have a choice except to purchase a replacement unit with no discount.

Forbes pointed out that because Apple did not acknowledge the problem as due to a flawed design, the company deems the affected iPhone 6Plus units as not covered by a warranty. Stay tuned to GamenGuide for more iPhone 6s news and updates!
