Pokemon Sun and Moon Guide: Which is the Best Starter Pokemon

In “Pokemon Sun and Moon," players are given the choice to choose between Popplio, Litten or Rowlet as their starter Pokemon. It’s one of the first and probably hardest decision a player has to make in the game. One mistake and it will take a while before the player catches the other Pokemon choices then they would have to train it from the start. So this guide aims to help players determine which the best starter Pokemon among the three is for each player.

Rowlet

Rowlet is a well-known Pokemon in “Pokemon Sun and Moon” and is a popular choice by many. It is a grass/ flying type Pokemon and is equipped with Peck and Razor leaf moves. It’s a good Pokemon to battle with Grass, Water, Bug, Fighting and even Rock types. Players can evolve it to Decidueye when it reaches level 34. And once evolved, it can take better moves like Brave Bird, Leaf Blade and the Spirit Shackle.

Litten

Litten, on the other hand, is a fire type Pokemon in “Pokemon Sun and Moon”. It is equipped with great fire moves so it gives the player a big advantage early in the game. It evolves to Incineroar when it reaches level 34 and turns into a fire / dark type Pokemon. But once evolved, it allows the Pokemon to learn more powerful moves like Flare Blitz, Cross Chop and Outrage which is a Dragon Type move.

Popplio

Popplio is a water type Pokemon and is the least chosen Pokemon among the three. Its potential is not as good as the first two but has its own unique qualities that makes it a good choice for some players in "Pokemon Sun and Moon". When evolved, it becomes a Water / Fairy type Pokemon Primarina which can only happen when it reaches level 34. It will also start learning great moves like Special Defense, Hydro Pump and Moonblast.
