The Dallas Mavericks are having a rough start in in their season. Rough is an understatement for this Dallas Mavericks team. It's more like a terrible and horrible start for the season.
Thirteen games into the 2016-2017 NBA season, the Dallas Mavericks are 2-11. Injuries to Dirk Nowitzki (sore right Achilles), Deron Williams (calf), Devin Harris (toe) and J.J. Barea (muscle tear in his calf) have decimated the Dallas Mavericks. Including the 96-91 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night, they are on a six game losing streak.
That was a game where the Dallas Mavericks had a good chance of snapping their losing streak. The San Antonio Spurs played without their two stars in forward LaMarcus Aldridge and point guard Tony Parker. Plus the San Antonio Spurs played terrible in that game. Still the Dallas Mavericks could not pull off the win despite a career game from Seth Curry who scored a career high 23 points and knocked down 5 triples.
Next game doesn't look too good either for the Dallas Mavericks. Their next opponent will be the league leading Los Angeles Clippers. Number 7 would most likely become a reality.
With the way the Dallas Mavericks are playing right now, some people are suggesting that the Dallas Mavericks should start "tanking" this season. But Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban doesn't like the idea. Unless until game number 75 or number 70 comes along.
In an interview with USA Today, Mark Cuban was asked if he would consider "tanking" this season. Mark Cuban answered that they would look into it in the latter part of the season.
"We will look at that like game 75 or maybe game 70. Like I said many times when six teams are racing to the bottom you don't want to race to the bottom. When teams aren't racing to the bottom, which is more like this year, then you play your heart out and win as many games as you can. When your young guys learn how to play to win, you're still going to have a chance at a good pick if things aren't working for you."
Mark Cuban is a very proud man. This is the roughest year that he's ever experienced since buying the Dallas Mavericks. So you can't blame Mark Cuban for being that hopeful and not quitting until the very end.
